As the Member Services Manager specializing in Maui, I have a special fondness for that destination in our club's portfolio. I'm so excited that Exclusive Resorts will be releasing 12 brand-new residences in Wailea in the next month or two! The residences will be located in the new luxury development of Ho'olei, just a few minutes' walk from the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa. Our members will have full access to all of the resort's amazing amenities. Each residence has three bedrooms and a large private lanai, and I think members are really going to love them.
Here are a few of my favorite recommendations for club members traveling to Wailea:
- Schedule your ocean activities for the morning. The afternoons can be cloudy, and the ocean too rough for activities. So plan your fishing, windsurfing or whale watching in the morning, and save your afternoons for splashing in the pool or a fantastic massage at the Grand Wailea.
- Check out the crescent-shaped volcanic crater of Molokini for fantastic scuba and snorkeling. It's an underwater wildlife preserve, and home to coral, gentle green sea turtles, dolphins and hundreds of colorful species of fish, including the unofficial Hawaiian state fish, the humuhumunukunukuapua'a
- Be sure to pick up some strawberry papayas for your stay. (You can just ask the concierge to put them on your pre-arrival grocery list.) They're hard to describe, and their hard-to-define flavor will leave you wanting more.
- The Grand Wailea has a kids' pool that has to be seen to be believed, and the resort even offers special spa days for children six and older. They also have a wonderful kids' camp. Your children would probably be thrilled to go there every day, but there's also horseback riding, kayaking, and a fun outing in Lahaina that offers traditional crafts, hula and storytelling. Your concierge and I will work together to put together a wonderful itinerary for your whole family.
- If you're a golf nut, start with the three spectacular championship courses right in Wailea—the Gold, Emerald and Blue. (Emerald was rated one of the country's most woman-friendly courses, as well.) If three rounds of great golf aren't enough, the concierge and I can put together more recommendations for you!
- Looking for an amazing way to start your day? A van will take you to 10,025 feet above sea level to the crater of the Haleakala volcano, then you can bicycle the 38 miles back down. You'll have to get up early, this is an awe-inspiring experience that offers a spectacular view of the sunrise. We can arrange for a group with escort vans, guides, meals and gear provided.
